Happy Birthday to Team.Net, and congratulations and thanks to you,=0AMar=
k, for providing such an important service continuously for so many=0Aye=
ars.I wasn't in on it at the beginning, but have been a continuous=0Apar=
ticipating member of healeys@autox.team.net since 1996. The list=0Awas a=
ctually the main inspiration for my taking over the AHCA BJ8=0ARegistry=
in 1998. I realized that the healeys list was a key tool in=0Amaking co=
ntact with BJ8 owners around the world so that the registry=0Acould docu=
ment the details and history of their cars, which today has=0Agrown to i=
nclude more than 54% of total BJ8 production (9,575 of=0A17,712 cars bui=
lt). =0A It's true that activity on the list seems much less now than wh=
en I=0Abecame a member. Many of the earlier members have passed on or ha=
ve=0Aaged out and sold their cars. So many different "lists" like Facebo=
ok,=0Aahexp.com, British Car Forum are good in some ways, making it poss=
ible=0Afor Healey owners to choose their source for Healey information;=
but I=0Abelieve they also dilute the overall benefit to the communities=
.=0AHealeys@autox.team.net is still the only one that I follow daily.=0A=

=0A On this day 30 years ago Team.Net came into being. The British-cars=
=0A mailing list was already going strong, an offshoot from rec.autos=0A=
Usenet=0A group. Dale Cook, Jim Muller, then me. Team.net went from 2 li=

y 70=0A different lists with something like 15,000 individuals subscribe=

. As I=0A recall, when I attended the SCCA Solo II Nationals 25th Annive=

autox=0Alist.=0A=0A And it amazes me that with such a scatterbrained pr=

is a lot quieter these=0A days, much better software handle many of the=
janitorial tasks=0A automatically. Back in the beginning, I had to do *=
everything* by=0Ahand,=0A so to speak. Subscribes, unsubscribes, errors,=
 I was spending 10, 15,=0A20=0A hours a week maintaining the server. The=
first server had a 100 MHz=0A processor. Things have changed. Back then=
just having a fast network=0A connection at a residence was rare and ex=
pensive. Good old DSL. I=0A remember that time when my service provider=
went belly up, and team=0Anet=0A was off the air for 11 days straight.=
I don't miss those days at all.=0A=0A Anyway, happy birthday to those o=
f you still here. I hope I can=0A continue to provide a useful service f=
