Hi Dan-

To answer the question, look at drawings 6, 7 ,8. The only crotch strap that
is
parallel is in 6. That is where the guy is sitting almost straight up. The
driver will not submarine when his back is close to 90° to his thighs. In 7,
8
they are pulled under the NHRA way.

The drawings evolved with the help of Jimmy Diest and Jack Dolan. I was told
that if you're sitting upright you don't really submarine. The major forces
will
be absorbed with your shoulders and lap belt. When you start the lay back
stuff
you will tend to slide underthe lap belt. It was also mentioned that if it
was
pulled under in 6 it could cause some problems with your private parts.

Note also that the drawings shows a 6-point harness like in Rich's car. With
this all the crotch strap dous is keep the shoulder belts thght on your
shoulder.

If Mr. Mayfield wants to do it the NHRA way its ok. All I really look for is
that they have one and it is mounted solidly and would work if it has to
without
causing to much driver pain.

Hope this answers your question.

Jim

Jim,

What are you thoughts on this. I used to think we were the same as NHRA,
same pics.
