Bonneville or bust!

I'm going to the salt in August for the first time.  Speed week runs
Saturday through Saturday (Aug. 14-20.)
I can only stay about four days, so am I correct in assuming that the
best time to go is the opening weekend rather than the final weekend?  I
went to the El Mirage opener in may and I'm hooked!  After the summer
cruzing season is over, my street rod is going to get gutted, stretched,
caged and trained to sit on a trailer.  I gotta do it!  Jerry in Dallas.
