just got back from an ill-timed BMW bike trip San Diego -Petaluma-Palm
Springs-San Diego,HOT ! Anyway,i had to share a memory re; Pete Robinson.I
saw him match race i believe it was Art Arfons early 60s at Dover Drag Strip
in N.Y. Wildest thing you could imagine! Pete dropped the jacks and his 289
(?) inj. ford did the quarter in about 9 secs at 130.Arfons followed in 9secs
at about 230! Pete hadda have ice water in his veins to have that thing
overtake him and retain control of any bodily functions.
Nextly,according to an article i read in the Wall st journal,"
Fredda Cole astride a Ural motorcycle(Russian BMW knock-off) will attempt to
set a record at Bonneville in Oct. and will first do a tune-up run somewhere
in North Carolina" Finally, did
someone do 431mph one-way out west recently? Was in Turners' speed shop in
San Diego for that one.
Oh yeah,in German , a lobster is a
