Jim, Kvach, The January 1966 issue of Hot Rod Magazine has five
color photos from Bonneville in 1965 .... the two largest of these show the
Goldenrod and Bill and Bob Summers, other three are jet and rocket cars .
The extensive salt article inside includes fifteen color photos and
several black and white ones . Since the Goldenrod was running with
the four STOCK, except for injection, 426 hemis that year, it was now
30 feet long ( and three tons ! ) Therefore, the side view inside runs
across the top of two adjoining pages, and most of the remaining color
pics are of streamliners . One of the best ever articles on Bonneville !
I would just like to quote the words on the first page, under the title
of " Those Magnificent Men And Their Speed Machines "
" Those who have never stood in the midst of Utah' s Bonneville
Salt Flats cannot appreciate this landmark' s vastness and serenity,
nor could they possibly imagine what a driver must experience as he
travels at speed over the lonely measured course . Bonneville is a
desolate wasteland turned proving ground for men and machines :
the giants of land speed record attempts "

I believe all of us who have been there would agree ......
 Bruce
hoping that HRM will renew some of this type of excellent
land speed racing event coverage .
