Hmmmm, sounds like you boys be havin waaaaay too much fun some days.

Back during my MG period I attended those concoooweres dee elleeegarnce
shindigs
and took home some gold with my nice little 100 point Y type emgee.

Prolem wuz that after I finished that fine restoration I had a pair of
bodies, a
chassis and a whole bunch of other bits leftover. Soooo, eventually in
true
hawt rawd fashion they all got assembled into a car. The best darn gymkahna
emgee kar that wuze ever built. And boy did them emgee boys hate it. "How
could ya do that to a fine thoroughbred Bwitish sporty car?" they used to
howl.
I used to delight in reminding them that the very first MG was indeed a
Morris
with the fenders removed and a souped up engine, all custom built in Mr
Kinber's
Morris Garage down at Cowly. They all knew the story well but shuddered
every
time I reminded them that basically the first of the breed was pretty much a
hot
rod in it's purest form. And of course i never held back in pointing out
that
the cars that made the MG name famous were the modifieds not the stock
standard
jobbies. And of course I'd always define a modified as a hot rod coz I can
never see much difference between a Morris with the fenders pulled and a
bigger
engine transplanted into the bay and a Deuce Ford with a late flatty and no
fenders.

Besides my little MG was still all MG, just that the XPAG engine was
replaced
with a blown B series and it had all MGB suspension. The rear axle was a
Holden
unit simply because all the MG ones I tried broke way too easy. maybe it
was
the red oxide and flames that they had a problem with?

Of course the real windup was driving my hot rod to MG club meetings and the
reverse windup drivin the MG to hot rod club meetings. There's just no
pleasing
some people ;-)
