That one got me chuckling. I remember my last flatracker, a Trackmaster
Triumph, which had a flat primary cover on the left for clearance as I'd
removed the external flywheel. The thing rev'ed up real quick, but at the
end of the straights it would actually blur your vision! Ah, the "good ol
days."

Subject: Safety wire
John, in all seriousness, when I built that bike,
an old time racer (I mean somebody even much
older than I), told me to drill and safety wire
everything that can be drilled on that bike. He
said rules don't begin to cover what needs to be
done to make a big single ready and safe. I
highly recommend that you get real friendly with
a local drill bit supplier, and learn a whole lot
about twisting safety wire. That stuff my not be
as common in LSR bikes as in road racing bikes,
but with that Victor, you can't over wire it!
