Bill, this surprised me too on my '32. I had it weighed and it came up about
50/50 too, I owed it to the setback of the engine. That was without me in the
car too. If I remember right (I'm too lazy to look it up) it was like 1300
front and 1250 rear.

Subject: Technical Tidbit: Weight of #124 Ardun Roadster

Hi Folks, got real ambitious today and carried my Ardun XXF/GR down to
Frank's Trucking Center for official weighing, and to give the nice
ladies there a thrill (I mean so they would have something different
than the semis to weigh). The price was right, $6.00.

You recall my car has a completely stock '32 Ford roadster body, steel
hood and grill shell and the rest of it Flatlander's streetrod
fiberglass. On a stock dimensions '32 frame, stock wheelbase, no engine
setback, driver sits in stock position (I did this so I could run it in
STR class if I wanted). It has a five gallon aluminum tank for the
coolant in the trunk, battery is back there too, and there is ten
gallons total of coolant in circulation. The two-gallon fuel tank is
inside the bottom of the grill shell. 4-speed stick and 9" Ford rear
axle. The pushbar weighs about 25 lbs.

Anyway, ready to race with fuel, oil and coolant, and this 220
pound(including helmet, firesuit, etc.) driver in place there is 1350
lbs on the front axle and 1330 lbs on the back axle, total weight 2680
lbs. Weight less driver 2460 lbs.

The only part that surprised me is that the weight is so close to 50/50
distribution, but that's good for handling, traction, and braking.

The big Ardun heads are heavy, maybe 75 lbs. more than an equivalent
Flathead
at a guess. I think an Ardun complete with fuel injection weighs close
to 700 lbs.

The regulation roll cage weighs maybe 125 lbs. on this car.

Cheers from Ardun Bill in the Great Dismal Swamp, Chesapeake, VA
