I want to extend a sincere "thanks" to the ECTA
and all of the volunteers who make it happen
there at Maxton. If I named one, I'd have to
name them all, and some of them are still just
faces without names to me, so rather than leave
somebody out, I'll just stick will "all". I got
in late last night from a wonderful race weekend
(or day, in my case). I saw a lot of old
friends, put faces with a lot of internet
friends, and I made a lot of new friends. Some
of you may have strolled by my pit when all the
work was being done on my East Texas Camaro and
y'all may have thought I looked a lot like Tom
Sarda. Well, the fact is, that was Tom doing all
that work on my car. "Thanks" Tom for the help.

The car ran flawlessley, and it amazes me how
well an old cattle truck motor can push a brick
through the air (which in this case, was coming
at me at about 19MPH with 25MPH gusts most of the
time). I didn't reach my goal of 150MPH, but I
danced around the car anyway because I knew that
had I had enough time to change to the taller
tires and make one more run, I would have done
it. I ran a 141 and change with the short 24"
tires and the motor was still pulling hard when I
lifted to keep from busting the redline (and
pistons, rods, crank and stuff like that). I'm
sure it would have pulled right next to the
redline with the tall 29" tires. So now I have
something to look forward to for the spring meet.

Once again, thanks to Everybody at SCTA for all
the work you put in so guys like me can have fun.
And, it was very nice to see old friends again,
put faces on internet friends, and make new
friends.
