Yeah, I know -0- this is my third note in the last little while...
So just now I went out into the 12" snow to see if my BIG plow truck (1954
Oshkosh, 13' angle highway plow, 427" Continental 6-cyl gas engine, 2x4x4
(feet, that is) block o' cement on the back for ballast) was okay. I
haven't used it much since last year, and the gas is sorta stale...
I went around the industrial park for a plow ride and noticed the Frito-Lay
potato chip semi was all bollixed up and stuck trying to get to the dock of
their warehouse. I cruised back and offered a chain and a tug...
So I hooked up after asking the driver where he wanted to go...seems he
didn't believe me when I said I could move him.
I put it in first, HIGH range, and started up slow to take the slack outa
the chain...didn't really notice that I had him moving...then the guy was
waving at me to stop 'cause the truck was all free. Damn, it's fun to have
that much power/traction.
So the guy offered me money for pulling him out! What the hey? -- doesn't
he realise that there's darn near no bigger kick than pulling a semi outa
the snow with my truck? I won't take money for having fun!!!!! I told him
to give the money to his grandson for Christmas, or whatever. He persevered
(not perverted, but rather I say persevered, Keith) and so instead of some
bucks I've got about fifteen bags of chips and popcorn and tortilla chips
and so on.
Nancy and I'll eat them before the next race, but please don't be afraid to
remind us and we'll bring some chips to Salt Talks next year or to the party
at the Pine Acres Lodge in Laurinburg or whatever. Let's share the wealth.
