If you read the owners manual the Dexcool says 5 yrs or 150,000 miles under 
normal 
operating conditions.---- trailer towing or 30 days per year over 90 
degs.=sever 
usage change 50,000 miles.  heat makes the stuff gel. wmts

My partner at work had the heater core clog shut from Dexcool in his Chevy 
S-10 Blazer with the 4.3 liter V6.  He is a Diesel Mechanic and he claims 
this happens when you do not change the coolant every two years.  Strange, as 
GM claims the Dexcool is good for 5 yrs. or 150,000 miles!!!!   I still like 
changing coolant every two years regardless of mileage.      Regards,  Tony G
