Allen,
This brings up a question as to the overlap between the car/bike worlds. You
mention a 110/80V 17.
Bikes are using 120/70VR 17s on a 3.5x17in rim. Rears are 160-180, 50/60 17s on
5.5 or 6.0 in. rims.

You can see where I'm going; could bike tires be used on small 17in car rims?
(or even adapted bike rims; you can get some neat modular wheels these days) Is
there anything basic about the bead/rim profile etc. that would make this
impossible? I realize the companies are probably not going to approve it as an
'unintended use' etc.

It might be nice as the current bike radials are rated way up there for speed.
I'm of course thinking of fronts, but what about the round profile of the tires?
Seems as if you could use a wider tire as it would be giving a smaller contact
patch at speed.
Cheers,
Rick
