I have been contacted by the offices of the FIM to see if there will be
International interest in setting FIM World records for all classes of
motorcycles, motorcycles and sidecars and three wheelers. The FIM are
planning to set up a records meeting on the 7 mile circular track at Nardo
in Italy. A pavement surface which affords 'easy' 200 mph plus lap speeds.
The weekend would be "A World Record Challenge" event.
The plan would be to run for the standing start distances (1/4 mile, kilo
and mile) then flying start distances (kilo and 1 mile) - in two
directions (max 2 hour turnaround) and then to offer the track to those who
wish to run for duration records from a standing start - 10km, 100km.
1000km or period records of 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours or 24 hours.
Take a look at landracing.com or fim.com for the current records and
classes.
