As Ellen mentioned, the deer hunt in Utah is always the same weekend as
World Finals. Glen wouldn't know that, being a Californian. The golf is a
new thing this year.

Rooms are already at a premium during both race meets. The casinos and some
motels are quoting holiday rates because of the LPGA golf tourney on the WoS
weekend and the deer hunt promotions on World Finals weekend.

I have had calls from people who have been quoted outrageous prices for
rooms ... over $100 a night for both of the weekends. Others have been very
pleased to get rooms at normal rates.

Racing is no longer the only game in town for Wendover.

We have people going out this Thursday, Sept 12, to check out the course.
I'll pass on the update that evening. Some forecasters are talking rain for
the area along I-15 for Wednesday, 9/11 so our course check on Thursday
should clear up any questions. The hundred and twenty miles from Salt Lake
city to the Nevada border makes a big difference in the desert weather.

We will be using both courses at World of Speed. The 130 Club and the
novelty vehicles, barstools, alternative fueled vehicles and the like will
be running on the short course.

Pits will be two tenths of a mile away from the course and two tenths of a
mile down course from the starting line to allow for the two-way record
runs. From the calls we have been getting, we will have some fast stuff
running and there are lots of entries compared to normal years already.
Guess there weren't as many people who broke at Speed Week as there usually
are.

Some hot-shot motorcycle riders are scheduled to show up to try top speed
stuff. Just hearing about some possible "ringers" but I don't know enough
about the big names to comment intelligently.

See you on the salt!

Wes
