Hi Folks, just ran across a very nice item in a newish book of Vincent
history called "Vincents, HRDs and the Isle of Man" by David Wright.

The co-designers of the immortal Vincent motorcycles, Phil Vincent and
Phil Irving, are affectionately known as "the two Phils".

Anyway, in the '30s and '40s they would both go over to the T.T. Races
in the Isle of Man, with a couple of mechanics from the then-tiny Works,
to run their factory bikes and support other riders of the marque. Ken
Bills, who rode for the factory for a number of years, described them
very aptly in the book in this wise, ..."both were extremely keen,
absolutely honest, very clever, and hard tryers".

That's a good line to remember, that any of us would like to have read
out in the eulogy at our funerals! Ardun Bill
