FAR INTO THE SOFT STUFF A COUPLE YEARS AGO AFTER GOIN' 450
-YES ?

Why not just use air brakes like a jet fighter.  Couple of metal panels open 
out of the sides and or top of the body and let the drag slow the car down 
to parachute speeds.
