RE: Lead - not BOndo, but! (NO LSR)Is there money involved here? Do I get a
prize? I gave up on the NRA some years ago when my views of the world and
theirs differed a bit, not much, just a little.

Ok, I'll try... lead has a specific gravity about nine times that of water(I
think! don't quote me here). One cubic foot of water weighs 62.4 pounds. One
cubic foot is 1728 cu inches. One gallon is 231 cu inches. So one gallon of
water weighs 8.34 pounds. Therefore a drum of water weighs 55 * 8.34 or
458.79 pounds. If lead is 9 times heavier then a drum of lead weighs 9 *
458.79 or 4129.12 pounds. There are 7000 grains in a pound. Therefore there
are 7000 * 4129.12 or 28,903, 874.99 grains in a drum of lead. Now divide
that by the number of grains per slug, 28,903, 874.99 / 158 oor 182,
935.9177 slugs for a 38 special. well, actually on 182,935 because cannot
  have a partial slug <grin>

This may be a tad off on account I just guessed at the specific gravity of
  lead.
