"DrMayf" wrote (snip. . . ) the amount of boost that a SBF could handle
before splitting the block. I am curious as to how many have actually seen
this happen? and then to answer the following questions:

Mayf, probably the most import question you left out is what was the static
(mechanical) compression and a related (and equally important question), is
what was the cam overlap? Boost numbers by themselves, with out knowing
the compression ratio, won't provide the ultimate peak pressures, the
related forces, and/or the onset of detonation.

You also wrote (snip. . . ) Because this kind of subject always starts some
sort of insane discussions, I'd rather have you send the info to me directly.

I am very sorry to see this start to happen. I agree there will be
inevitable flames (we all suffer silently through it right along with the
person being flamed). However, diverting "mechanical pearls of wisdom"
underground defeats the purpose of the list which is sharing of knowledge
for the continued, performance, safety, and enjoyment of the sport. We,
collectively, are interested in all things mechanical. Controversial
opinions and data are equally appreciated and needed in forming our own
technical opinions. Please dismiss the flamers. Most readers quickly
access the QUALITY of a reply and assign the comment, and the author, the
relative importance. -Elon
