Good choice with "Bear". Brings back memories..... When I was
growing up in Tuscaloosa Alabama, my best friend's father was
one of Bear Bryant's best friends. He would come over to my
friend's house almost every Sunday afternoon to sit on the
veranda, sip whiskey, and shoot the breeze with the "old
folks". We played often played "sandlot" football while he was
there & he would laugh his butt off at our antics. My friend
made it into Life Magazine because he had a Bulldog named
Wally Butts (anybody remember the scandle involving Bear &
Butts, the Georgia coach?) Anyway, Bear was one of those
people that commanded instant respect. He had that Elvis
personna. When he entered the room, you FELT his prescence....
Anyway, I saw all the Alabama games from the sidelines and got
to rub elbows with a cocky young quarterback named Joe Nameth
- another electric personality... It was good to be young
once...............
