It has been fun, and will continue to be I am sure. There would be
little joy in setting records if you only raised your own. I am also
certain that the record would not be as high as it is if either of us
had been going it alone. Competition is what makes you dig deeper for speed.
When I first set the record @ 206 mph back in '91, I was running on a
190 mph minimum. You returned with a 210 mph a couple of years later,
then I raised it to 216, then you came back with 226 mph then the next
year, with Joe at the spoke @ 228.697 mph. It then became a monstrous
hill to climb from my perspective. It took us three years to do it, but
this year we managed a 228.840 and then a 229.737 mph. At the World
Finals, we tried again with a new driver and fell 0.5 mph short. I think
that this proves that the class is hotly contested.
I expect to see you back in the class with the new car and be a real
thorn in my side, but we now also have something more to offer, I think.
I am looking forward to many more years of this competition.
