I think the best testing needs to be done on a slippery surface with a very
consistent car. The concrete at maxton might take too much slip out by itself.
It is also too short a course to hit terminal speed and i suspect that is where
there may be a lot of benefit to not spin the tires when you hit the aero limit.
Talking to KT the other day it sounded to me the warehouses are not exactly
overflowing with new LSR tires as well. What happens when you need 8 or 10 sets
all at once? This thing needs another name other than traction control. I vote
for tire saver or over torque limiter as that is what it does. I can't make
traction only prevent overpowering the track. Ultimately you will always go the
fastest on the best track with no limiting. What is really trying to be
accomplished is to make up for a track that is lacking grip for whatever reason.
There are a lot of situations where on part of the track can hold a lot more
torque than another, sometimes as well because the guy in front of you just spun
the tires for the whole length and tore it up...

What if the HANS device was championed not for head and neck support in the
event of a crash? If instead it was promoted as an aid for driver fatigue an
allowed the driver more time on the track and fewer driver changes saving time
in the pits? Or if we could keep the fastest driver in the team in the car twice
as long. I bet it would be an unfair advantage and outlawed..
