Malcolm has offered up interesting insight.

Who was the FIA governing body you ran under (not SCTA/BNI/USFRA) for the
attempts? It might there some unsavory conduct emerged.

The FIA fees are fixed.
The operational fees are always fluid as it is unknown in advance how many
attempts or days it will require for the record setting. Fred Larsen nailed
his record right of the trailer in 2 passes, Andy Green took a bit longer.

Hold on now, the SCTA/BNI have long listed "International Records at the
World Finals" so the only thing new are the certificates.

Burdette Martin is already on our side; it was through him that we were able
to pry loose the FIA certificates of Vesco, Teague, Alexander and True.
what's more, when he discovered Don Vesco was ill in hospital, he stepped in
to confirm don's 458 record was certified and made a personal phone call to
Don and Rick telling precisely that. Unfortunately, the damn paperwork
arrived nearly 60 days AFTER Don was buried. A bitter pill for all of us on
TEAMVesco, but we are grateful for his intervention. One has to remember
Burdie is plus 70 and runs the ACCUS office with only his wife to assist.

Glenn -- will the class structure mimic FIA or remain as it is for regular
record competition with the SCTA?

As for other venues, it would be a tough chore to gather volunteers and
permits, Black Rock still has those pesky sand serpents appearing and
disappearing, but other times on the salt . . . that seems more possible.
What about about it SCTA/BNI?
