Just checking on the net ... there two Novi cars mentioned that are front
wheel drive from the late 1940's.  The four wheel drive cars raced in the
fifties and sixties with the 4-WD trying to get the power of the Novi V-8
down to the pavement.  Apparently they were too heavy and eventually
couldn't compete with the rear engine cars.  Guess you were both right, you
just have to argue over which years you were choosing to remember.

I celebrated a birthday last week and have been getting "sympathy" cards for
a week now so I'm not sure how reliable my memory is.

My reference books on Indy don't include anything on the Novi roadsters but
......?
I'm pretty sure it was 4-wheel drive.
