The Penske Porsche 917-30 Can-Am car used something similar; those
wheels looked like they had put a Corvair cooling fan into each wheel.

In the mid '90s the Penske Indy Cars used wheels that were kinda Moon
disk
looking. Flush face, large center hole for the air wrench and I think
small
slots at the outer rim for, I would guess, brake cooling. I thought they
looked pretty bitchn'.
