Dear USFRA -
My name is Nicholas Searle. I am a staff writer with Australian
production
company Becker Entertainment.
Our company is investigating the possibility of a television documentary
about (who we down under would call) 'backyard' tinkerers. These are men
(and women!) who design and build their own speed-vehicles from scratch.
One such backyard tinkerer of whom you may be aware was the New Zealand
legend Burt Munro; the story of Burt and his Indian Scout will be one of
the
elements of this documentary.
I would be much obliged if the USFRA could put me in touch with any
backyard
tinkerers stateside.
They might be up-and-coming young people creating incredible cars or
bikes
in sheds at home, or they could well be older, established people who
have
spent a lifetime on the scene, perfecting their rides.
Character and personality are what we are looking for - people with a
passion and a story to tell.
