Seems that the MOD get to play with a lot of land over here in the UK,
not that I have anything against the guys but it seems odd that shelling
large tracts of the countryside is OK yet we have to stop racing at
Santa Pod and Avon Park at tea time because of the noise. Still, at
least they didn't stick a supermarket on either Pendine or Santa Pod
(yet).

Because of coastal changes and the use of the eastern end as a firing
pit,
to test guns and mortars and other military ordnance, the beach now only
affords about 3 3/4 miles and there are some steel ranging posts that
can
get in the way.
