Average human reaction time is about 0.25 sec in non-stressful situations,
but there is a wide range from person to person, and it varies for each
person and becomes slower under stress.

Long ago I read a paper by a lady physiologist---she tested some F1 drivers
and was amazed when she found out their reaction times were only the
"normal" average (0.25 sec), but was even more amazed when she tested them
under stressed conditions and found that their reaction times got much
faster, contrary to "normal" humans. Guess that's part of the Right Stuff.
