This is how it works.
C/BFMS is an open BNI record. This means that two consecutive runs will result
in a record(the average of the two runs). Red hat requires a record average
over 260 mph.
Following your first pass you may enter the impound area for the inital
certification. This will be the certification of the body and a gas check if
applicable, in this case n/a.The following morning you make the second pass and
have an un-official record. At this point we can either measure the engine for
displacement or seal it so you you can continue to run. To make a record
official the engine must be measured by the end of the week or when we go home,
which ever comes first. In no case can a pending record vehicle be removed from
the salt to have the engine certified at a later date.
In the case that your engine is sealed so that you may continue to run the
record is the same as at the start of the event, in this case an open record.
Anyone in the same class will qualify against the open. Once the engine is
certified and the record becomes official that record becomes the new class
qualifing standard.
One thing to remember here is that once you have entered the impound your
racing for the day is over. If you qualify on the very first run on the new
car, easy to do on an open record, your fun is over. You may, of course, leave
the impound at any time based on your own decision. You will have to start the
qualifing procedure all over again though.
