After a meeting last night of the SSCC, it has been decided that the Gold
Rush Challenge, September 15-18 on Hwy. 278 will be cancelled due to the
Mormon
Crickets and the safety hazard they impose to our participants.

By all accounts that has been related to us, the crickets are there and
there is no
guarantee that they will be gone, as we were told, byou canbt second
guess
Mother Natureb.
We also were advised that the BLM has been spraying very heavily on Hwy. 278
to eradicate them completely so that we can have a safe race in 2006.

With the participantbs safety in mind and knowing that some of them are
coming
great distances or using their vacations, it is only fair that we give them
a months notice. We will be calling each of you that have already registered,
personally.

As far as the Silver State Classic Challenge event, September 22-25, 2005 is
concerned, it is 100 miles further South and Hwy. 318 is not affected by
crickets due to the dryer climate.

Any questions/comments please call
Steve Waldman (702)451-1513 or
cell (702) 595-1254.
