TNT also works but the dies need to be a bit more robust. Don't laugh--
explosive forming has been around for a long time.

for answers to metal shaping questions, go to www.metalmeet.com largest 
gathering of metalshapers in the world. I was at the latest metal meet
down 
in Oblong IL. last month, WOW! is all I gotta say, guys making panels
for 
37 willys,  1910 maxwells, gas tanks, steel baseball hats, roses, how to

lead body panels, english wheel demos and training, power hammers, 
planishers, stretchers/ shrinkers, how to weld tig, mig, gas weld 
aluminium, paintless dent removal, 9 days for 100$....great time, great 
bunch of guys.....highly recommended.....
another way is to carve out forms bolt together and use a high pressure 
grease gun to push the dome out....water pressure works too, and if it 
blows is a little less messy,, ( ask me how I know).....
