When he lived southern Cal."Danny Boy" Ed Tradup ran a junior fueler at
Lions with a 215 BOP engine . Without the driver it weighed 615 pounds .
The Repco company in Australia made 4 valve twin cam heads for the 215
engines for Sir Jack Brabham's F1 cars with which he won the World Drivers
Championship in about 1962 .
In 1964 Buick made a neat little 300(aprox.) ci iron block V8 that used
215 aluminum heads . Only slightly heavier than the all aluminum 215 . An
Aussie friend put one of them in a Corvair . He reversed the engine rotation
to match the corvair trans by using Chevy 6 timing gears .
The 60's were glory years for racing innovation , personal and corporate
.
