There are 4 types of bearings , poured babit , babbit lined inserts , aluminum alloy lined inserts and trimetal lined inserts . Fords before '37 and Chevys before '53 had poured babbit bearings .1950's Dodge , Desoto and Chrysler hemis came with babbit lined inserts . All Chevy V8's and most modern cars have aluminum alloy lined inserts . Most race engines use trimetal lined inserts except blown fuel drag engines which use babbitt lined rod and main inserts .
