Larry,
FM Transmitter with a range of 1 mile is going to be pretty tough to get
away with legally. Unlicensed operation in the FM band is limited to 100
milliwatts, and the range on that isn't so great. The band is also VERY
crowded in most areas.
You might have better luck with the AM band.
The SSTRAN AMT3000 gets great reviews for sound quality and the price isn't
too hard to take. http://www.sstran.com/

Our club is in the market for a FM transmitter similar to the one you guys
use at the salts flats. Does anybody have any impute on what brand and what
