Your comment on the "good doctor" and his Staggerwing knocked loose a
memory.....
My Dad was an A&P mechanic at Learjet for 30 years, and he used to have
stories of these 2 Venezuelans who flew in every Friday afternoon for service.
They left every Monday morning with the seating area packed full of jeans
& boots from Sheplers, vcr's and tv's from Federated, and cameras and
camcorders from Lawrence Photo.
After about 10 years they just stopped showing up..... Dad never knew if
they were smugglers or legit importers.
