Gee Glen, I didn't mean to offend you by treating it lightly! I'm Sorry.
Here's the scenario. I ran 218 on the short course during an "easy"
licensing pass. ( I was sup post to go 175-200! ) We heard it announced and
the
timing slip said the same thing. This is the speed that was engraved on the
timing
tag. I ran on the long course a couple days later and turned the 223. You
announced the speeds correctly and my crew wrote them down. The safety guys at
the shutdown drove up and handed me a piece of paper with the 223 speeds on
it just like my crew had. When we got to the timing slip tent they didn't have
a timing slip for the run, didn't know who I was and accused me of
trespassing. (Kidding)
I also noticed when the results were published, the 223 run was missing but
the 218 run was.
Somehow from the time the speeds dribbled off your silver tongue to being
officially recorded, they were lost, forever....
That's OK, the therapy has been helping a lot and I hardly drool on myself
anymore since the mix up. LOL
The reason I said "No big deal" is because to me the accolades are
secondary. I have so many trophies from Bikes and cars that I use them for
hammers! To
me the reward is building and driving the cars. The time and effort that
goes into designing and building the car all comes together when I hit the gas
and head down the track. That's all I need.
Of course a Red Hat someday would be very cool!!! That's what I shoot for.
The timing tags at anything less are failures.
