Has anything come out of the Detroit motor show to confirm whether BMW will
be funding a "Rolls Royce" LSR bid in '07? The earlier stories suggested
normally aspirated perhaps as the Goldenrod record speed of 409 mph was
being touted as the one this group would be aiming for.

The Dieselmax is on static show in England (Autosport International) -
looking spotless and not dropping salt it seems. This car is said to be at
a 50/50 stage of odds on returning to Bonneville in '07 (with some higher
speed rated tyres) to go for the speed set by Al Teague (409 mph). [Not of
course a direct challenge to Al's piston spark ignition supercharged record
............. but it does for the UK news media stories].

Don't shoot the messenger ................ but once again the British PR &
Media take no interest in the higher speeds set by US racers (Burkland 417
mph for example) and are setting the story out as the 'fastest piston
engined' vehicle under FIA).
