It seems to me that one of the "X" plane's had a multi layer
glass wind screen. 6-8 layer. Reason, shock waves.
I'm not sure,

Here is a good data sheet on PETG. It has good impact resistance similar to
polycarbonate. Light transmittance is 88% and it has poor UV resistance.
