Thanks to all who replied to this question.  Jack Hardy is correct.   They are
5/16-22, BSF threads.  I'd have thought they were BSP or some such and they
look tapered but they are not.  The grouped (the parts list calls this a
"battery") oiling nipples are something else, larger and with a finer thread.
