TF Valve Cover Color

My valve cover gasket was leaking so I decided while waiting for the
replacement to arrive in the lil brown truck, I would clean up the valve
cover.  It seems as tho the color as shown in "Original MG T Series" is a
grey/green/silver color.  The cover I have is a semi gloss black and shows
no evidence of having been repainted in the past.  Can someone enlighten me?
