I have just started up the engine on an 53 MGTD that I recently bought and which
has not been running for the past 15 years.
I have the following questions if anyone can help ?
a) I am not getting a reading on the water gauge (combined oil and water)
although the water in the rad is getting hot.
Is there anything obvious that goes wrong or will I need to have the gauge
repaired ?
b) The red ignition light does not go out when the engine is running. The
belt is fine the dynamo is turning. I opened the regulator and the
points are open, but when I moved them to the closed position they stayed
closed and the red light went out. When I stopped the engine
the points opened and the red light came back on again. Any ideas ?
c) I am sure this is an age old question, but basically should I use a fuel
additive or can I use unleaded ?
