9 post regulator question

My 9 post regulator doesn't seem to be working correctly. I suspect one of
the windings is bad because when I manually close the contact points, the
ampmeter pins to the left.

Since the 9 post is not available, I was thinking about buying a new 5 post
for the relays and coils. Anybody else tried this?
