I was talking to a V8 specialist today and he warned me about some faulty
water pumps that are around.
If you look down on a good pump from above you should see that the bottom
hose outlet is angled back very slightly, possibly only 5 degrees or so, wrt
the pulley and the rear face. The new pumps have the outlet parallel to the
pulley and the rear face, and the effect is to move the hose closer to the
fan belt, which because it whips, cuts through the bottom hose.
