How fast should my Midget be?

OK, forgive my naivete, but I think my Midget is too slow, even for a
Midget.

Granted, I have not yet adjusted the valves, and I'm sure the carb is
outta whack, but how fast should a bone-stock '67 Midget be? I'm not
necessarily looking for 0-60 times, but how quick are they with a single
165 lb driver, top down and 155/13 tires. I'm always the slowest car on
the road, save for the occasional diesel Rabbit or VW bug (yes, I like to
pick on veedubs).

Also, my tach reads between 4500-5000 RPM on the freeway. I'm still
getting passed by everyone like I'm standing still. My guess (cause the
speedo reads around 65-70 MPH which can't be right) is that the speed is
about 55-60 MPH. Is this common? Is my motor shot and my diff set with
a lower ratio than stock? Am I crazy? Should I build a new engine?
Mine doesn't really burn oil. The clock says 84K miles, but who knows if
this is correct. Could be 184K for all I know.

Opinions humbly requested and greatly appreciated.
