I will try and explain the procedure:

1) disconnect all snaps, hooks, clasps, etc. inside and out. Dont forget the
four snaps inside and disconnect the header rail clamps. The top will be
completely disconnected from the car except for the header rail and one
additional metal crossmember.

2) pull the header rail up in the air a few inches and slide the rear of the
top out of the two chrome hooks on the rear deck.

3) fold in the two triangular side windows with the crease along the fabric

4) slowly lower the header rail while pulling the top fabric away from the
metal frame. (Be sure to do this, the top is attached to the metal frame at
two places, the header rail and one of the metal cross pieces. You should
pull the top up and away from between these two attachment points)

5) lower the header rail completely and fold the rear window over the metal
frame. The rear window should be on the outside laying on top of the metal
frame. You should be looking at the inside of the rear window.

6) become frustrated and buy a Miata

God Luck, Richard White

I am the ecstatic owner of my first MG, a 1979 MGB. It runs great!! What I
want to know from those of you who have experienced MGBs longer than I have
is "What is the correct way to fold the top when dropping the top?" I don't
want to ruin the top that's on there. ANY help would be appreciated.

        Thanks.
