The 18th annual American MGB Association convention was held October
13th and 14th, 1995 in Memphis, Tennessee held in conjunction with the
Memphis British Car & Cycle Fest. The event was organized by the
British Sports Car Club of Memphis. Bill Cravens and Jim Hofer,
principal event organizers, did an outstanding job in overseeing this
successful show. This was the 12th annual Memphis British Car & Cycle
Fest, held each October to aid local charities.
Friday the 13th proved lucky for all as we gathered in the hospitality
suite for a delicious dinner. Many of the entrees and desserts, which
included several "MG cakes", were donated by British Sports Car Club
members and their spouses.
Early Saturday morning vendors began arriving and setting up for the
owners of more than 250 cars that would be on display. With the sun
shining brightly, participants shared stories of their favorite
British marque with each other. The British Sports Car Club held their
concours judging while the AMGBA held a separate popular vote contest.
The afternoon climaxed when the winning ticket was drawn for the 1975
MGB raffle car which was prepared by the host club. The winner was a
local MGB enthusiast who was thoroughly surprised and delighted to win.
Later that evening, Hiram Shepard chaired the awards banquet. The
presentations were handled professionally as winner car's were
projected on slides as the awards were given. Frank Ochal, President
and Margie Johnson, Secretary handled the awards presentation for the
AMGBA. Winners of the American MGB Association's popular vote were as
