To my query on what a "stone" is, Martin responded:
>I just happened to have the conversion tables handy.
>One Stone is equal to 4900 scruples(apothecary)
> or 14 pounds(avoirdupois)
>We usually use them for measuring our own weight
> ie '10 stone weakling'
> '18 stone bloater'
>Hope this Helps
>Cheers
>Martin

Oh. I see. Now, when doubts arise as to my remaining scruples, I can
raise my glass righteously and proclaim, "Madam, I have over 75.000
scruples.....but in the morning, you'll still be ugly."
Thanks, Martin.
