It's certainly within the realm of the home mechanic to do this job.  The 
only thing you can't do is rebush the swivel axels, but you can buy 
rebushed ones.  The only other trick is getting the right amount of shims 
in the wheel bearings.  (I replaced my wheel bearings when I did mine, no 
point taking the same thing apart twice.)  Porters book tells how to 
get the correct amount of shims without a dial gauge.


Get a good shop manual (I recommend Bentleys) and read up on it.  If you 
think you can handle it your probably right.  If not then don't.

It took me a day to do this, of course I cleaned and repainted the 
A-arms, spring pan, brake shield etc. when I did, and replaced both the 
front and rear springs at the same time.  It can probably be done in an 
afternoon.
