You're right!

You are correct. He's gotta be kidding! :-) Did this to my '71 and then 
to my '74 Austin Marina (same engine as the B, but single carb), and 
then to my '74 B-GT. It works just fine! You also need to put in a 
"crankcase emission valve" (as Porter calls it) as found on the pre-'68 
cars. Ensure that the rubber flap valve in the c.e.v. is sound (does not 
have any pin holes in it). this has to be cleaned periodically.
