  Well, I can't speak for all, but I had never done more than add oil to 
a car before getting a '78 B last fall.  It ran okay, needed a lot of 
little things - new top, turn signal assy, electrical short fixes, minor 
repairs.  All fun and not beyond a novice.  Some of it depends on how 
much you want to do.  Mine will need some body work ( which I don't plan 
on doing myself ), but though she may be a little raggged around the edges, 
she has attitude, and that's what I like. :-)

  Even from the standpoint of just being a drive-to-work car, I've found 
the B more economical and reliable than, say, a similarily aged econo 
box.  ;-)

  If it's major functions are fine, I'd go for it...
