Just out of curiosity, what grade fuel are you using?

Mine used to diesel terribly.  Pinging was pretty bad too, like a
chorus of kids shaking spray paint rattle-cans.  Switching to a
higher octane fuel cured both problems instantly.

Since then, the run-on valve first ceased functioning completely,
then got disconnected when I popped on the Weber.  I've never
missed it a bit.
